NLC issues 7 days ultimatum to FG over fuel, Naira notes scarcity.
The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has threatened to take necessary actions if the lingering fuel scarcity, hike in price and unavailability of redesigned Naira notes in Nigeria continues till the end of next week.
This is coming after the Supreme court has ordered the federal government to suspend it’s February 10, 2023 ultimatum on Naira swap.
The newly sworn-in National President of the Union, Comrade Joe Ajaero said this during his acceptance after inauguration of the new executives in Abuja on Wednesday.
According to him, the continued scarcity of fuel and new Naira notes including hike in prices if fuel in the country has brought a lot of hardship on the people.
“If nothing is done before the end of next week, we shall be forced to take necessary steps, ” he stated
Earlier, he promised that his administration would seek a new minimum wage for Nigerian workers.
He added that the Union would expand its tentacles to bring in more Nigerian workers into the field of the union to avoid impunity and suffering in the hands of employers.
His words, “We will seek a new minimum wage. We will expand our reach to capture more workers to avoid impunity and suffering of Nigerian workers. ”
He added further that the current executive would be loyal to NLC, Nigerian workers and the masses.
“We shall not only speak seek the platform to lift the shackles of poverty from the shoulders of our people.
He maintained that that union would seek a deeper engagement with the government as well as deepening existing engagement, and opening new vistas.
