MWUN tasks FG on having security posts at bonded terminals, jetties

The Maritime Workers Union of Nigeria (MWUN) has called on the Federal Government to facilitate the presence of security agencies at all bonded terminals and jetties across the country to checkmate nefarious activities of unscrupulous importers. The President General of MWUN, Adewale Adeyanju, who disclosed this in Lagos, expressed worry over the recent seizures of contrabands in some of the off dock facilities. He noted that the influx of contrabands and other prohibited consignments will continue to flood the country through the off dock terminals if the government fails to establish security formations in those terminals for proper scrutiny. He added that examination of containers should be strictly adhered to in such facilities with the involvement of relevant government agencies on ground before final release.
