AKABOGU & ASSOCIATES PAY COURTESY VISIT TO MWUN
The Senior Partner of Akabogu & Associates, Dr. Emeka Akabogu recently led a delegation of Barristers and Lawyers on a courtesy visit to the leadership of Maritime Workers’ Union of Nigeria (MWUN) at 119 Osho Drive, Olodi -Apapa, Lagos.
During the visit, Dr. Akabogu explained that the Maritime Workers’ Union of Nigeria is a very unique labour organisation, wielding so much significance in the Maritime Industry. And that the Union has wholesomely transformed to a very reputation and a cohesive Union, which has become the envy of every labour Union in the country, Africa and across the globe, stressing that most of these transformations happened under this present administration led by the workaholic President -General of the Union, Comrade (Prince) Dr. Adewale Adeyanju.
He also commended the PG for taking some of the pragmatic bold decisions toward repositioning the Union for a progressive advancement since his emergence as the number uno of the Union, buttressing his facts on the new face of the Dockworkers, which he said has taken very positive dimensions as against the past when crisis was order of the day for every of their activities The seasoned Legal Luminary did pour encomiums on the PG for the relative peace being enjoyed today in the sector, which cannot be overemphasized.
Dr. Akabogu did thank the Union on behalf of his delegation over the warm and memorable reception accorded them, and also made it known to the national executives of the Union that he had been looking forward towards a day like this; and was indeed a rare privilege that has come to pass eventually. And that the significance of this visit is to find a common ground for collaboration and partnership between the Union and Akabogu & Associates to having a more harmonious operational environment between employers and employees and to achieving more fruitful engagement with governments, stakeholders and practitioners of the Maritime Sector as it affects the Union and all the Stakeholders in general.
Dr. Adeyanju also commended Dr Akabogu for his excellent involvements in most of the issues arising in the sector, his intelligent engagement in various fora with his brilliance interface with governments in labour matters, particularly in the Maritime Industry, where he has carved a niche for himself.
The indefatigable President -General of MWUN promised that the Union will integrate and synergies with Akabogu & Associates to profer solutions and render necessary assistance towards some of the teething challenges confronting the Union as it were, and hopes that this new found relationship between the Union and Dr. Akabogu will yield in the much needed succour to the Union in all ramifications.
