MWUN VISITS JULIUS BERGER, WARRI

The leadership of Maritime Workers Union of Nigeria (MWUN) under the aegis of Comrade Francis Bunu Abi in company of his executives paid a courtesy visit to the management of Julius Berger, Warri, Delta State Tuesday, 23 September, 2025.

The visit was its first since their electoral victory this year, and was to familiarize with the management of the Dutch Giant Construction outfit, Julius Berger.

Comrade Bunu during his speech was all praise for the General Manager, Capt. Rainer Jensch; having introduced his members of delegates, Comrades Oniha Erazua – Secretary- General of the Union, Bolaji Agboola – Dockworkers President, Bestman – Vice-president of Dockworkers, and Sam Pere – JB District.

The Maritime foremost leader says their host (management) has been a very strong ally of the Union, holding a very strong tie with our leadership; hence, after the Union recent electoral victory, the leadership of the Union deemed it fit to pay JB this courtesy visit.

The Maritime Expert did not mince words when he said that in spite of the current economic hardship in the country, JB Warri had continued to keep our Dockworkers and the Seafarers in their employ in good faith, explaining that such gesture is one, which actually shows the total commitment in the synergy of genuine cooperation between JB and MWUN, which has defined our years of partnership in the maritime sector.

The Maritime Workers Union has come here to show you our immense appreciation and support at all times. Therefore, being with you here on this visit is a show of brotherhood commitment, to tell you that the Union will always be with you in all circumstances as you operate your business successfully in the country.

In response, the Capt. Jensch, who was full of admiration for the Union executives, expressed his deep satisfaction on the visit of the MWUN PG, whom, he described as a very pragmatic leader having known him, while in Warri with JB since 2007.

The JB GM says his working relationship with the Maritime Workers Union of Nigeria has been very awesome, saying the Dockworkers and Seafarers in their employ have always been very cooperative at work. And this good working attitude and cooperation with that of the Union throughout these years of being together in Warri cannot be overemphasized.

He gladly said that in spite of the current economic situation in the country, the workers are still with the company, nothing that there have been cases of conflicts and interests on both divides, but management has always struck a balance of keeping JB industrial wheel rolling in all circumstances.

The Dutch Expatriate, however, says this mutual bond has continued to spur the workers and the management in thriving in this challenging times; hence, none of its contracts has been terminated, and that JB is still in search of more; looking at the other way to make up for the company and the workers interests in general.

During the close of deliberation, Comrade Bunu and his executives thanked the management of JB for their warm reception and hospitality during their stay and prayed that the relationship between both bodies will continue to wax stronger.
