INAUGURATION: Comrade Bolaji Agboola Emerges As 7th Dockworkers President, MWUN

Comrade Bolaji Akeem Agboola has been inaugurated as the 7th President of the Dockworkers Branch, Maritime Workers’ Union of Nigeria (MWUN).

Agboola was inaugurated on Monday, July 7 2025, at the Branch Secretariat, Kirikiri Lighter Terminal in Lagos.

The newly elected President won the election unopposed recently in Warri, Delta State, succeeding Comrade Ibrahim Ohize.

In his remarks, Agboola promised that dockworkers nationwide are in safe hands.

He further commended the leadership of MWUN for conducting peaceful elections across the four branches.

Similarly, at the handover ceremony, immediate past President Comrade Ohize tasked Agboola to see himself as a leader who must ensure that workers’ welfare is considered paramount.

Ohize urged the new President to ensure that decisions are made in favor of the workers.

The immediate past President called on Agboola to embrace inclusiveness to ensure peace and progress for the branch.

Highlight of the inaugural ceremony was the presentation of awards to some of the present and past leaders of the union.
