MWUN HOLDS A MEGA END-OF-YEAR PARTY FOR WORKERS

The Maritime Workers’ Union of Nigeria (MWUN) under the leadership of Comrade Francis Bunu Abi on Friday, the 19th of December, 2025 held an end-of- the year party for the Union.

The event, which is indeed a Bash for the workers, staff and executives was the kind never held in the history of the Union.

However, while the party was on going and to mark the successful closure of the year 2025 activities, there were also side attractions as deserving staff for punctuality, Comrade John Ekpo (DSG) in charge of administration/personnel got a price award of ₦100,000 (One Hundred Thousand Naira) only which came in cash. Comrade John Kessy, Chief Driver of the Union and Comrade Rotimi, (AGS) of the Dockworkers Branch were also awarded with ₦100,000 cash respectively.

The next category was the best dressed, which went for Comrade Kenneth Ibanga (DSG) in charge of protocol and International Relations the Union; he also received a cash award of ₦100,000 in that category, while Comrade Mathew Adele, General Secretary of the Dockworkers Branch also received same price for the best dressed.

Others are Comrades Akala Mistura, the Union’s Account for the female best dressed, also received the sum of ₦100,000 (One Hundred Thousand Naira) in cash; as others, Funke Apesin (ASG) in the Admin; Sherifat Ogbeide (PA) to the PG of MWUN also in the best dressed cadre received same amount in cash.

Comrade Taofeek Adeleke was also rewarded for being the best amongst the Union Security officials. And in the open and free dance competition held, the best female dancer, Comrade Martina Njoku (VPG) received a cash sum of ₦50,000 (Fifty Thousand Naira) only, as others got consolatory prizes each.

The big deal of the event was the presentation of an Award for the President-General of the Union, Comrade Francis Bunu Abi by the Organizers of the “Face of Maritime” with the “2025 Queen” as presented to the PG during the history making fiesta on the day.

The guests and hosts were all satisfied with varieties of sumptuous meals served, especially with delicacies from the Niger-Delta region, the South West, the South East and the Northern parts of the country as it were. The Union actually demonstrated that MWUN is of Nigeria encompassed and there’s no segregation of any kind. There were a lot of food to feed on and all kinds of drinks to gulp to everyone’s expectation and satisfaction.

Before the end of the party which started and ended on a good note, the PG of the Union, Comrade Bunu thanked everyone present for their good conduct, orderliness, comportment and show of love for one another. The PG also praised the organisers of the “Face of Maritime” for keeping faith with the yearly event. The foremost Maritime Labour leader in the country assured the Union that the next version of the event will also be a bang and that the only way this tempo can be surpassed is by through hard work, dedication, punctuality, commitment and loyalty; while thanking the Journalists who also graced the occasion.
